Sensational afternoon of races in Spanish

The Sunday racing action at the Gran Premio bwin.com de España provided plenty of thrills and spills as more than 130,000 fans flocked to the Jerez de la Frontera circuit to see Dani Pedrosa pick up his first win of 2008.

The Repsol Honda rider made another good start to the race and managed to stay ahead of his rivals throughout the contest, while five-time MotoGP title winner Valentino Rossi got his 100th premier class podium in second and pole man Jorge Lorenzo was third. The current World Champion Casey Stoner meanwhile came home 11th at one of his least favourite venues, finishing in the points despite leaving the track twice
during the race.

The 250cc contest ended in drama when leading pair Alvaro Bautista and Marco Simoncelli crashed on the last lap, to hand Red Bull KTM rider Mika Kallio a surprise win. The Finnish race victor was joined on the podium by Polaris World’s Mattia Pasini and JiR Team Scot’s Yuki Takahashi.

In the single cylinder class race earlier in the day Simone Corsi achieved his second victory in the category, ahead of Jack&Jones WRB colleague Nico Terol, with Polaris World rider Bradley Smith in third. Another World Champion experiencing a frustrating afternoon was Gabor Talmacsi who retired due to an engine fault.
