KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champion Decha Kraisart is ready to resume action in the SuperSports 600cc championships of the Petronas FIM Asian Grand Prix at the Johor Circuit in Pasir Gudang this weekend.
He has been given the green light to compete again. Injury put the Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Thailand rider out of action for two-and-a-half months and he missed the first three rounds of the championships.
“I am glad to have the doctor’s approval to race again. Resting for a few months seems to be like ages for me and watching my team-mate Chalermpol Polamai racing is no fun at all,” said Decha.
Decha will be aiming for a double victory in Pasir Gudang to celebrate his return to the championships.
“A successful defence of the title is out of the question now but I still want to get on the podium,” he said.
“The leader, Ahmad Fuad (Baharudin of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Malaysia), has 90 points and making up the deficit is very slim if he continues to get podium finishes in the remaining rounds. But with three rounds to go (six races), I am confident of finishing among the top five.”
Tickets priced at RM20 can be purchased at the Johor Circuit and 2,000 early birds to the races will receive an event cap and other goodies.
