GT Girls Take the Streets to Promote Super GT
18 June 2008, By Sepang International Circuit
Holding placards by the streets, they are not ladies on strike or pickets. Instead, they are GT Girls recruited by Sepang International Circuit (SIC) to promote the 2008 Super GT International Series Malaysia this weekend.

With messages reading – Sizzling, Hot; fittingly reflected by their own sexy attire, the GT Girls moves around the city; targeting high traffic areas to catch the fans attention and woo them to the circuit.
SIC Advertising and Promotions Manager Azlan Akil said that the GT Girls On The Streets was part of an intensive campaign in their final push in promotions to secure 65,000 spectators for the race weekend. “I am proud to say that the track is all ready for the race and the circuit is ready to receive a targeted 65,000 spectators for the weekend,” he said, adding that with four top class support races as additional attractions, the 2008 Super GT International Series is something that no racing fan would want to miss.
Sepang hosts Round 4 of a nine-leg championship series from June 20 to 22, which would also feature the new Aston Martin Asia Cup, the Asian Supercar Series and two single seater formula – the Asian Formula Renault Championship and the Formula V6 Asia Series.
“It will be a gathering of the past and future of motor racing with former drivers from Formula One, Le Mans and other world class series in the Super GT race and aspiring F1 drivers in the Asian Formula Renault and the V6 Asia Series. The new Aston Martin Asia Cup should be very exciting as well. I am made to understand that they made a huge impact in the debut race in Shanghai last month and that the second round in Sepang will be even more exciting,” Azlan said at the official handover of the winners’ trophies for the Super GT International Series Malaysia by Royal Selangor.
Entry for Friday (June 20) is free at the Main Grandstand while for entry for both days on Saturday (June 21) and Sunday (June 20) is RM80 for tickets at the K1 Grandstand and RM150 for seats at the Main Grandstand.
Azlan added : “I would also like to personally recommend to the Main Grandstand ticket buyers to get the pit-walkabout passes and Circuit Safari passes as well to enjoy a truly unique experience at this year’s race. The pit-walkabout passes would get close to the cars and the GT Queens at the pits while the circuit safari will get to closest to the real thing on track as racing cars pass by you on the racing track.
“It’s a pity that we are unable to proceed with our plans to have the hot air balloons above the track to provide an aerial view of the actions. This is due to reasons of air traffic security, and I would to personally apologise to all the fans, as I know that you all are really looking forward to this new entertainment,” said Azlan.
At the ceremony, the SIC Advertising and Promotions Manager Azlan Akil received six units of winners’ trophies for the race, which was designed and sculptured by Royal Selangor, which were handed over to him by its General Manager, Encik Yong Yoon Li.
Commending Royal Selangor on the trophies, Azlan said : “I would like to congratulate Royal Selangor for another creation of class and beauty for winners’ trophies for the Super GT International Series Malaysia.
“Each year, the designs get better and better and I must congratulate the creative designers of Royal Selangor and its team of sculptors. Royal Selangor products have always been items of pride for Malaysia and the winners’ trophies are proof of that testament,” he added.
