Kuhara Extends Lead In Style

It was another sucessful weekend for Japan's Yasuhiro Kuhara who extended his lead in the Malaysian Super Series Superbike competition after a double win at the Sepang International Circuit today.

Kuhara of Team HKL Racing won the 12 lap Race 1 with a total time of 16:52.091s with Malaysia's Ahmad Zamani Baharudin breathing down his neck to finish second 1.726s later.

Coming in third was Abd Rahim Muhd Sidek of Moto Gear Racing Team who timed in at 17:15.982s.

"Race 1 was a tough race as Ahmad Zamani kept pushing me. The pressure from him forced me to make more mistakes than usual but I managed to hold him off," said the Singapore based Kuhara.

In Race 2, Kuhara however had things going his way.

He clocked 15:54.279s to win the race 5.684s ahead of Ahmad Zamani after managing smooth overtaking the back markers.

Abd Rahim Muhd Sidek again took the third spot.

It was a similar situation in the Supersport category as Ahmad Fuad Baharuddin bagged the win in both races.

"This weekend as serves as a warm up to the FIM Asian GP which will be making it's debut at the Autopolis Circuit in Japan this weekend," said Ahmad Fuad.

The Malaysian Cub Prix champion however was impressed with the level of the competition the MSS provided and is hoping to make the start for as many rounds if his schedule permits.

In the Production Bike category defending champion Ahmad Azhar Hamid won Race 1 and points leader Rizal Jantan snatched Race 2 win.

"It was a good race and I was happy to get back on the momentum of the season. Things will definitely get tougher in the next round but I am looking forward it to,"said Ahmad Azhar.

The MSS Round 3 will be held on July 24-26.
