Lai Wee Sing, R-Engineering Vows To Continue Fight
14 August 2008, By Sepang International Circuits
Sepang Drag Battle 2008 enters its third round at Sepang Circuit this Saturday night with two-time overall champion Lai Wee Sing desperately looking for a win to keep his championship hopes for the open class alive.
With three more rounds to go including the upcoming Round 3, Lai is six points behind championship leader, Dixon Chen, who had been impressive with two wins and a maximum 10 points from the opening two rounds of the 2008 Sepang Drag Battle.
While acknowledging the mountainous task lying ahead of them, Lai and his R-Engineering team, however, is not throwing the towel yet and instead, had pledged to continue to fight all out and hope for the best.
“Until the championship battle is truly over, we will continue to believe that a third overall title in the open class is a possibility. We will continue to believe and put our heart and soul fully in accomplishing this mission,” said Lai, who is also a two-time Malaysian Super Series champion.
While Lai is struggling in this year’s series, team-mate Mohd Zamri Ahmad has been scoring good results as he currently leads the Class B championship with Jamsari Yahya with five points; courtesy of the single win this season.
After two rounds, the battle of Class B had provided two set of podium winners with Zamri bouncing back in Round 2 after a disappointing Round 1, which was won by Jamsari. Mohd Mazlan Scully and Khairul Anuar are in joint third with three points.
“The battle in Class B had been very close this year. But, I firmly believe that Zamri can do it in Round 3. We are all ready to put up a winning performance this Saturday,” added Lai.
