Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sepang International Circuit (SIC), a special gathering is being organised by the Sepang Circuit Sports Club (SCSC) in honour of its former staff this Saturday (August 30) at the circuit in conjunction with the 2008 Petronas Primax 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race.
"Officially, SIC was established as a company in January 1999 and the circuit being officially opened on March 9, 1999. But, operations at the circuit started in 1998 with its first official event - the Proton International 300km Merdeka Race - was also held that year in 1998 at the circuit.
"We feel that it will be good for us to organise a small gathering for all those who had worked here at SIC; contributing to the progress of the circuit and overall development of motorsports. Just to say thank you," says SCSC President Azhar Ghazali.
Azhar, who is also SIC Press Officer, hoped that the 'small gathering of friends' would lead to establishment of a bigger and closer network between the current and former staff especially in collaborating efforts in further developing Malaysia motorsports.
"I know for a fact that the enthusiasm, spirit and love for motorsports remain strong in many of them. I hope that they could channel these positive elements that back to SIC to assist us in promoting and developing Malaysia's motorsports.
"But, above all, the gathering is also also meeting old friends and former colleagues and just to have a good time while enjoying the MME. So, I hope to all my former colleagues at SIC would join us at the circuit this Saturday," said Azhar.
