10 July 2008, By SuperGT.net
The HIV – AIDS Edification Program supported by OKAMOTO INDUSTRIES, INC.Given the grand support of OKAMOTO INDUSTRIES, INC. SUPER GT is introducing a new set of prizes named the "OKAMOTO Red Ribbon Award" and the "OKAMOTO Safety Driving Award". These prizes will be awarded beginning in the Rd.5 SUGO. These prizes aim to further promote the HIV-AIDS edification program "The Red Ribbon Campaign", implemented by SUPER GT for the prevention, earlier detection and quicker treatment of AIDS. The Japanese Foundation for AIDS Prevention is also planning to join in these efforts. The 200,000 Yen "OKAMOTO Red Ribbon Award" is presented to the team that achieves the best results at each race. The "OKAMOTO Safety Driving Award" consists of two prizes. The first, a 10,000 Yen prize goes to individual drivers that complete the race weekend without a single penalty. The second, a prize of 200,000 Yen is awarded to drivers who earn the highest driver's points in their respective classes. 10% of the prize money will be donated to the Stop AIDS Fund to further benefit AIDS awareness endeavors. Participation in this program is voluntary and only teams that have signed on will be eligible to win prizes. All participants will support and represent the cause by bearing the "OK" sticker on their helmet and on their cars. This will surely bring back fond memories for the older generation fans, as this is the same "OK" sign used in the grand-Champion (GC) series in the 1960's.
