The FUJI GT 300km RACE, 9th and final round of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, was held on Nov. 9 at the Fuji Speedway (one lap 4.563 km) in Shizuoka Pref. The winners in the GT500 class were the CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R team of Tsugio Matsuda and Sebastien Philippe. The winners in the GT300 class were the YUNKER-POWER TAISAN PORSCHE team.

The qualifying for the FUJI GT 300km RACE, Round 9 of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, took place at Fuji Speedway (one lap 4.563 km) in Shizuoka Pref. on Nov. 8. In this qualifying the REAL NSX driven Katsutomo Kaneishi and Toshihiro Kaneishi won the pole position and will start from the front row in the final race on the 9th.

On Oct. 19, the SUPER GT IN KYUSHU 300 km (lap = 4.674 km x 65 laps) took place at the Autopolis in Oita Pref., as Round 8 of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT. The GT500 class winners were the XANAVI NISMO GT-R driven by Satoshi Motoyama and Benoit Treluyer, in their third victory of the season.

On Oct. 18, the qualifying for the SUPER GT IN KYUSHU 300 km, Round 8 of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, took place at the AUTOPOLIS (lap = 4.674 km) in Oita Pref. In this qualifying, the XANAVI NISMO GT-R (drivers: Satoshi Motoyama/Benoit Treluyer) qualified 1st in the GT500 class and will start from the pole position in the race on the 19th.

On September 14, the MOTEGI GT300km Race, Round 7 of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, was held at the Twin Ring Motegi (one lap 4.801 km) in Tochigi Prefecture and the GT500 class winner was the YellowHat YMS TOMICA GT-R driven by Ronnie Quintarelli and Naoki Yokomizo.

The SUPER GT INTERNATIONAL SERIES IN MALAYSIA, Round 4 of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, was held at the Sepang International Circuit (lap = 5.542 km x 54 laps) in Malaysia on June 22 and the WOODONE ADVAN Clarion GT-R driven by the pair of Joao Paulo Lima De Oliveira and Seiji Ara came through to win its first race of the season in the GT500 class. This was the second consecutive victory for this team at the Sepang round.

Desperate for championship points, Michael Krumm took his NISMO Nissan GT-R to the top of the grid after taking pole position in qualifying at the 2008 Super GT International Series Malaysia at Sepang Circuit today.

“It will be good to win tomorrow; but what’s more important is to collect as much championship points as possible,” said Michael, who would be seeking his second win in Sepang after topping the inaugural race in 2000.

Takashi Kogure of Team Takata Dome NSX clocked the fastest time in official free practice at the Super GT International Series Malaysia 2008 today, confirming the Honda NSX supremacy around the 5.543 Sepang Circuit.

Clocking 1 minute 55.702 seconds in the hot and humid evening session for the GT500 categoruy, Kogure was 0.292 seconds faster than another Honda NSX driver, Toshihiro Keneishi from Real Racing with Leon who clocked 1 minute 55.994 seconds.

The Asian GT Challenge, which features top class supercar actions, has been forced to be dropped from the 2008 Super GT International Series Malaysia race schedule due to time constraint.

“After re-assessing the race schedule and upon consultation with promoters of the Asian GT Challenge series, it had been agreed for the event to be excluded from this year’s race programme,” says Azhar Ghazali, the Press Officer of Sepang International Circuit.
