SUPER GT TYRE TESTING

Yesterday; January 14, 2010 concludes a three day hot weather testing by two of Nissan’s Super GT teams at the 5.543km long Sepang International Circuit.

According to one of the organizer, the teams were mainly testing newly developed tyres that were to be used on the summer races in Japan.

On Oct. 18, the SUPER GT IN KYUSHU 300KM, Round 8 of the 2009 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, was held at the Autopolis (one lap 4・674km_65 laps) in Oita Pref. In the GT500 class the PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 driven by Juichi Wakisaka and Andre Lotterer won its first victory of the season.

Driving the PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 from the 4rth position on the grid, Lotterer got a great start and moved up on the tail of the pole position starter, Richard Lyons in the ZENT CERUMO SC430. These two machines continued to run that way with never a gap of more than one second until they both pulled into the pit at the same time at the end of lap 30. Of the two teams it was the PETRONAS TOM'S that had the faster pit work, enabling it to return to the track two seconds ahead of the ZENT CERUMO, effectively in the lead.

The FUJI GT 300km RACE, round 7 of the 2009 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, took place at the Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Pref on Sept. 13. Victory in the GT500 class went to the No. 8 ARTA NSX (Ralph Firman/Takuya Izawa). The GT300 class win was claimed by the No. 81 DAISHIN ADVAN Ferrari (Takayuki Aoki/ Tomonobu Fujii).

On August 23, the 38th INTERNATIONAL Pokka GT SUMMER SPECIAL, Round 6 of the 2009 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, was held at Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture. In the GT500 class the victory went to the No. 35 KRAFT SC430 driven by Hiroaki Ishiura and Kazuya Oshima. The GT300 class race was won by the No. 46 S Road MOLA Z (Kazuki Hoshino/Masataka Yanagida).

On July 26, the “SUGO GT 300KM RACE,” Round 5 of the 2009 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, was held at Sportsland SUGO (Miyagi Prefecture). The GT500 class victory was won by the No.1 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (Satoshi Motoyama/Benoit Treluyer). The GT300 class victors were the No. 33 HANKOOK PORSCHE team (Mitsuhiro Kinoshita/Masami Kageyama).

A Wet Affair At The Circuit Safari

More than 200 Super GT fans in seven busses were thrilled when they took a ride on the Circuit Safari bus.

The 10 minute ride took the fans on a slow lap around the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) while the Super GT cars are doing their warm up laps.

Kids Walkabout Program A Blast

More than 2500 children of various ages came for the Super GT Kids Pit Walkabout program at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today.

The program allowed children to get up close to the Super GT race cars and team at the pits for free instead of having to pay RM100 for the entry.

SIC CORPORATE CHARITY PROGRAM

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) hopes to spread some high octane joy to underprivileged children and charity organisations.

44 children from the Kg Sungai Buaya, Banting orphanage received tickets to watch the Round 4 of the 2009 Super GT race this weekend in Sepang.

More orphans will be joining them from various orphanages nationwide. SIC will also sponsor their transport, food and drinks on that day.

SIC PREPARES FOR 50,000 SPECTATORS ON SUPER GT WEEKEND

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is prepared to handle this weekend’s Super GT event with the final preparation set in place.

Working with the Royal Malaysian Police, about 100 police officers and more than 100 SIC security personnel will be stationed throughout the Circuit to manage and assist race fans when they arrive at the circuit.

SkyBus flies again to ferry race fans to Sepang

“Apart from being greener as car pooling, you could avoid the trouble of driving into a traffic jam, let the bus driver worry about that and just enjoy the ride,” said Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Corporate Communications Chief, Azlan Akil.
