Top 10 Opening Day For Malaysia At Home Event

A1 Team Malaysia completed the first day of practice for the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, Malaysia, with the tenth fastest time of the day. In the morning rookie practice, Aaron Lim clocked a fantastic fourth quickest lap and Fairuz Fauzy recorded the tenth fastest lap overall in the afternoon practice.

The A1GP teams were ready for a strong day of running at the Formula One Championship circuit and A1 Team Malaysia and 19 other national teams enjoyed the wide, sweeping track with fine weather throughout the sessions.

The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport in Chengdu, China, staged the region's first A1GP event today with two races of nation versus nation competition. Fairuz Fauzy represented his nation this weekend and drove a strong race to fifth place in the Feature race to take a clear championship lead to the team's home race in two weeks time. In the earlier sprint race the Malaysian team had finished in 13th position after a solid drive from Fauzy.

Qualifying for the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, Chengdu, China took place this afternoon at Goldenport circuit close to the city centre. Fairuz Fauzy took to the track in the Malaysian car, aiming for strong qualifying positions for tomorrow's races. In warm, cloudy conditions the team completed a final practice session this morning and by the end of a tough qualifying session, Fauzy had posted lap times which gave him fourteenth place on the grid for the Sprint race and sixth position for the Feature race.
