Overview On MSS 2012

The success of the MSS in 2011 saw a huge interest in the participation of the race as well as the slots running together with the series. Back then, Formula Pilotta, and the Scirocco Cup debuted their races in Malaysia knowing that the well-run MSS would provide added value to their drivers and series.
 
In 2012, the motorcycle category will continue to run during the Malaysian World Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) and the car categories will run its first round as the support race during the Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix.

CATEGORIES & CAR ELIGIBILITY

A five (5) round Championship for cars of various categories, specified hereunder:

MALAYSIAN GT

i) GT-X
ii) GT Class
iii) Sports Production
iv) Touring Production

MALAYSIAN TOURING CAR (MTC)

i) Class 1

ELIGIBILITY OF COMPETITORS

Each entry can have up to maximum of 2 drivers. The eligibilities of competitors are as follows: -

a) Competitors in possession of a valid competition licence issued by the Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) for Circuit Racing. (Minimum competition licence required: National “C” (Novice))
b) Competitors in possession of a valid competition licence issued by the Automobile Association of Malaysia/Motorsports Association of Malaysia (AAM/MAM) for Circuit Racing. (Minimum competition licence required: National “C” (Novice) or National).
c) Competitors in possession of valid FIA International competition licence issued by the respective FIA - National Sporting Authority (ASN) accompanied by a letter or visa of approval from the same to participate in the event.
d) Any Malaysian team having a foreign driver(s) must hold the Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) entrant/team licence.
The organiser reserves the right to reject any entry in accordance with the National Competition Rules (NCR) of the AAM. There is no appeal against their decision.

WHAT"S NEW! (FOR CARS)

RACE FORMAT

Each round will be run with either one of the following formats (to be confirmed via Additional Supplementary Regulations). : -

FORMAT 1 Will have to two (2) sprint race of 10 laps each. There will no pit stop for each race.

FORMAT 2 One race of maximum 60 minutes with compulsory pit stop, which must be carried out during the period after lap 3 and 15 minutes before the chequered flag. For team with 2 drivers, change of driver is to be carried out during this pit stop. The pit stop must be carried out in front of the designated pit or area of each team. During the pit stop, a single driver must get out of the car, cross the pit lane demarcation line and get back into the car. For a 2-driver entry, the second driver is to stand behind the demarcation line and allowed to go to the car after the first driver has crossed the demarcation line. No re-fuelling is allowed.

ELIGIBILITY OF COMPETITORS

1) Competitors in possession of a valid license for Road Racing issued by Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) or Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) – Minimum competition licence required: National “C” (Novice).
2) Foreign riders must hold a valid standard FIM International road racing licence together with the permission letter/visa.
3) Grading for Class A and B would be as follows: -
i) Class A – Open to competitors who have participated in the series previously including the MotoGP round and holders of expert licence. Riders who recorded a minimum lap time of 2:20:000 and below during the final round of MSS 2012 will automatically be placed in Open Class regardless of the status of their license.
ii) Class B - For riders who recorded a minimum lap time 2:20:001 and above and new licence holders or riders who have never participated in any form of two-wheel motor racing previously. However, for the new entry by foreign license holder, the grading will be based on their lap time during practice, qualifying and Race 1 of first round.
iii) Once the grading has been determined, it will remain until end of the season regardless whether the rider recorded any faster time during the season.
iv) The final decision of the placement of the riders will be at the discretion of the Organisers.
